Oi, Postie, keep off the grass
The Postman drives me mad by walking across our grass. I promised last year (in my New Years Resolutions) that I would try not to let it get to me, but its no use it totally drives me mad!
He even walks across our garden when he doesnt have mail for us, just cuts through on the way to the next neighbour!
Its not too bad in summer, the ground is firm and the grass growing. In Winter the ground is soggy and his constant tramping of boots makes a muddy path across the garden.
I'm totally putting up a fence this year, I'll show him, the lazy git!
(Pic is not our house but the one opposite us. )

What Happened?
We're back.
Believe it or not, I didnt hardly go near the Internet on holiday! I know! Me!
I logged into the Bank a couple of times in various airports (more on that later) but apart from that I made a proper effort to avoid the Internet.
I kept a bit of a written journal so I'll post some bits and pieces along with some of the photos we took.
Not feeling jet-lagged at all, I'm such a good traveller ;-)

Holiday Blog
Woohooo!
Its holiday time again.
And not just any Holiday, its our long awaited trip to Australia, stopping in at Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland and Singapore. In the words of Tony the Tiger's little mate "Its gonna be great!"
While we're away I wont be able to update our 2boyz.co.uk site, so I'm going to try to post some updates here.
Hopefully if I get a chance I'll post some pictures and stuff about what we've been up to in the land down under :-)

Crash!

Bah! Imagine reading this, barely moments (a week and a bit) after I've officially tied the knot with Paul. I've been hanging on for the last seven years and now Oscar-winning harridan Reese Witherspoon is leaving her lovely husband Ryan Phillippe.
The cow! She must have been waiting until I was officially taken before letting him go. She obviously knew what would happen if we were able to get together. Him moving to Sheffield to be close to me would not have been ideal for the children I suppose.
In a statement issued today, I said "Bugger! Obviously, my thoughts are with Ryan and his family at this sad time."

Civil Partnership
After 8 years together (and a lot of catching up by the UK legal system) Paul and I were "joined" in Civil Partnership on October 21st 2006.
After so long together you'd think it would'nt change anything and on the whole it hasn't but there is something different that I can't quite put my finger on.
It's "nice different" though, so it's cool.
We're off on holiday to Oz soon so we'll be celebrating in style!

Super-Computer
Wow! A real life, take-over-the-world Super-Computer!
How does it qualify for Super-Compuer status?
By having 2 Hard Drives.
Pffft.
My computer has 4 x 200gig drives in it.
What does that make mine? A Super-Mega-Computer?
Have I built??
Its a monster that will likely take on a life of its own given the right set of special freak-lightning-strike circumstances.
I, for one, welcome our new computer overlord :-)

A Thought For Friday #2
Drivers in India need the love of at least one God in order to survive each day on the roads!
You see these messages more commonly painted on the back of lorries and cars, sometimes Tuk-Tuks. This was the only time I saw this on a helmet. I'm surprised the ever enterprising Indians havent already thought to sell this advertisng space. It certainly gets noticed.

Seems like summer has gone so you might like to hear about this little bargain.

Scally boy
A new sport? I like to call it Scally hunting. Though I probably need to find some a bit older than this specimen, other wise it may just be another disturbing hobby. Look out for the ultimate Scally, head to toe in white, LaCoste trainers and Prada(ish) trackies.

Amazing TV Dish Antenna Works Indoors!
TV Licensing sent me a letter today asking me to purchase a license for a portable TV I bought recently.
Their "records" show that I dont have a TV license. Well derrrr, surely they should check their "records" for the address not the person?
Of course we have a TV License. Although I'm totally against it in priciple, its just another tax. The BBC get a shit load of cash and waste it on shit. So there!

Camping it up
I picked up a little magazine booklet thingy in a pub a couple of weeks ago.It did say on it that I should buy a "Robinsons fruit shoot" to get it free. In fact, knowing I would be waiting for 25-35 minutes* for my meal, I needed something to look at (and the desk was unattended, so I nicked it.)
So anyway, this booklet, its nice, bright, colourful, and trying to be educational for the kids in the hood. Nice articles designed to get kids out in the open air and being active. If I had a scanner I could share with you delights such as the "Fame Academy" interview, "how to" dance in 3 different ways, BMX** tricks designed to be as easy as possible for total beginners to snap bones and some (not so) magic tricks.
I know! Its enough to drive anyone back indoors and straight to the computer. I however, was still waiting for food so I persevered. When I reached page 15, there it was.
Camp Beaumont.
It took a moment to fully register that I wasn't seeing things. When I was a kid (about 12 or 13 or so) I was just getting in to computers and owned a VIC-20. In the computer magazines*** of the day were adverts and in one of those adverts were pictures of kids all sitting at Commodore PET computers enjoying a holiday without their parents.
I SO wanted to go there.
Just one problem. Money. You know those times in your life when you really learn something about how the world works? This was one of those times for me. I was all nonchalant, blasé even, when I told my Mum that I would be holidaying at Camp Beaumont next year.
Mum always said "maybe." Of course, I now know that what she really meant was "No chance, you'll have a week in Scarborough with the rest of us and enjoy it!!"
They are still going and you can see their website hereAs you can see the computer holiday is now called Tech Hedz, which is just so "street" and not a PET in sight. Looking at the prices I'm not surprised I wasnt allowed to go. In old money it probably cost the same as a holiday for the whole family.
BTW, The steak was cooked to my liking and can heartily recommend the "2 for a Fiver" voucher that I used to pay for it.
*that's what the waitress said, considering I wanted a steak, medium rare, that 10 minute margin worried me, that's like the difference between rare and dryasfuckburnttoacrisp.
** Do the kids in the hood still do BMX? I havent seen on for years.
***Commodore User, Buzz??ZZap??? K magazine and loads of others. Remember Crash? that was a good one, strictly Speccy though, spend 4 hours typing in the BASIC for a lunar lander game then guess what, yeah thats right, it doesnt work.
